PLAYERS DISCIPLINE SECTION;   PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN REPORTED FOR VARIOUS OFFENCES AND LEVELS IN 2024  & 2025.

ALL REPORTS MADE ARE RECORDED AND ARE CARRIED OVER FOR TWO YEARS.   ANY FURTHER OFFENCES IN THAT TIME ARE LIKELY TO BE TREATED MORE HARSHLY.            Players have no right of appeal for Level 1 & 2 offences and any bans are immediate.

Umpires do not have to inform the players or club officials on the day and a report can be filed by the Monday after the match.  If reports are not made on the day however, any ban will take place the following week, and not the next Saturday.

Any player moving to another club or playing in another league will still have to observe the two year period of the ECB report.

                                  ECB LAW REMINDERS

In the event of a batsman getting inured during a match a RUNNER is allowed in all Two Counties matches.

We operate under the ECB laws which allow a runner. The ICC that covers International matches do not allow runners at all.

Any short pitched ball that passes over the batsman's head has to be  called  a  NO BALL, and not a WIDE as under the ICC laws.

A warning has to be given to the bowler,

A full pitch ball, over waist high, has to be called a NO BALL .    The umpire will consider whether the bowler should be given a warning or not.  If a warning is given the bowler will have to be removed from the attack if a second warning is given later on.

MATCHES EFFECTED BY BAD WEATHER

Matches can not be called off by the home team without consultation with the match umpires.

Sometimes it would be obvious that the bad weather has set in for the day, but at other times it would be helpful for a local umpire to carry out an inspection and report back.

Before a match is started the match umpires will consult the groundsman( if available ) to ascertain  his views on the prospects of play.

If the Groundsman refuses to allow any play due to the excess damage that could be done on the playing area, the umpires have to call the match off.

If the pitch is  " handed over to the umpires ",  they can still call the game off if they believe the conditions could cause possible injuries to players.

Any decision regarding the fitness of  the playing area is made by the umpires alone, and any input from team captains or other players have to be disregarded.

REMEMBER: CAPTAINS HAVE NO SAY WHATEVER.

FIELDER  THROWING BALL AT STUMPS TO EFFECT A " RUN OUT"

If the ball hits any part of the batsman on the way and is deflected into the outfield ,  the ball is still "Live" and a DEAD BALL " should not be called.

In many cases the batsmen will refuse to take any extra runs if this happens, but they can if they wish too.

However , if the ball crosses the boundary, following this type of activity , FOUR RUNS have to be added to the total,  in addition to any run(s) that had previously been completed.

ECB 2025 :                      REMINDER OF LAW

Throwing the ball at or near the batsman in an inappropriate or dangerous way is classified as a Level 2 offence, which has 5 run penalty and a possible 2-4 match ban.

Umpires have to decide if the throw was a "run out" attempt or not. Obviously, if the batsman is still in his crease, there could be another reason for the throw.

               BATSMAN LEAVING HIS CREASE

If a batsman leaves his crease on the assumption that he has been give "OUT", but it then transpires that he has been given  "NOT OUT" , he can not be given  "run out" and  can return to continue his innings.

BATSMAN MOVING OUT OF HIS CREASE TO AVOID INJURY

So long as a batsman has  first MADE  his ground following a run, he can't be given  "Run Out " if he then moves out of his ground to avoid injury from a throw in.

                          PLAYERS LEAVING THE FIELD

If a player leaves the field due to illness or injury on his return he has to spend the same amount of time he spent off the field before being allowed to bowl.

However,  if the reason for his absence was caused by an external blow, no time penalty will be given.
